Pumpkin Bread
Submitted by: Susan Silverman, Clinton Avenue Elementary

This recipe is easy and smells so nice while it is in the oven.  You can either use butter or margarine. It makes two loaves and freezes well.   Don't worry about the calories!

2/3 c. butter
2 2/3 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 (1 lb.) can pumpkin
2/3 c. water
3 1/3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
2/3 c. coarsely chopped walnuts
2/3 c. raisins

Grease 2 (9x5x3) inch loaf pans.  Cream butter and sugar together.  Add eggs, pumpkin, and water.  Blend in dry ingredients except nuts and raisins.  When well blended, stir in nuts and raisins.  Pour into pans and bake for 65-75 minutes in 350 degree oven.
