Our 1-2 blended class has really been having fun with Bob The Snowman by Sylvia Loretan and Jan Lenica! After we read it, we decided that it would be fun to pretend that WE were Bob...and then write "All About Me." We hope you enjoy reading our thoughts!

Our 6th grade buddies helped us make triaramas that showed two scenes from Bob The Snowman. The first scene was of Bob, all alone in the dark and feeling lonely. We used cool colors. The second scene was of Bob's dream of the beautiful country in the south. We used warm colors for that.
We also made Snow Person glyphs. Here are the directions so your class can make them, too. You can learn so much information from glyphs, and they are REALLY fun to make! BODY...Are you a boy or a girl? (snow person made from three circles = boy, snow person made from three triangles = girl) EYES...How old are you? (circle eyes = 6, triangle eyes = 7, square eyes = 8) NOSE...Did you stay up until midnight on New Year's Eve? (orange nose =yes, peach colored nose = no) MOUTH...What color popsicle do you like best? (red = smile with a dot on each end, green = smile made of dots, brown = a squiggle line with a dot on each end.) ARMS...Which drink do you like best? (arms up = hot chocolate, arms down = hot cider) HAT...Do you live in an apartment or a house? (top hat = apartment, stocking hat = house) SCARF...Which holiday do you like best? (green = Christmas, red =Valentine's Day, blue = Easter, orange = Halloween) BUTTONS...What do you like to do in the snow? (red circle button =sledding, blue triangle button = make a snowman, yellow square button = snowball fight, green circle button = build a snow fort, orange square button = make a snow angel)
All this talk of snow makes us wish that we would get some here in Oregon!! Mrs. Chartier's 1-2 :-)
