Death Marches were marches by prisioners who were mostly Jews. They were forced to walk very long distances to other camps in bitter winter weather. There was little to no food, drink, rest and shelter. People who were to slow to keep up or tried to run away were shot. "I was putting one foot in front of the other mechanically. I was dragging with me this skeletal body which weighed so much. If only I could have got rid of it! In spite of my efforts not to think about it, I could feel myself as two entities - my body and me. I hated it." - Elie Wiesel http://history1900s.about.com/library/holocaust/aa030600b.htm The things these people went through were brutal and horrifying. To walk for miles and mmiles not knowing where I would end up and that I would probably die on the way. If it wasn't me it may have been someone I knew or loved. The thought of having no food or warmth is scary to think of. I dont know if i wouold have survived. In response to: Research and report on death marches.
