The "Final Solution" was the Nazi plan to exterminate the Jewish people. Mass killings, state-enforced racism, and the Aryanization of Jewish shops were all part of this plan. There were two stages of Aryanization. The first was "voluntary" in which Jews were excluded from German economic life. The second stage was called "compulsory." In this stage, all remaining Jewish-owned shops were liquidated within a few weeks and transferred to a government trustee. Kristallnacht or "Night of Broken Glass" was a pogrom designed to drive Jews from German life. In September 1935, the two Nuremberg Laws were passed. These laws were also part of the "Final Solution." The first of these laws, was known as the Reich Citizenship Law. This law reclassified Jews as secondclass citizens and removed their basic civil rights. Einsatzgruppen, mobile killing units, were initially used to exterminate the Jews. However, this method became a "pshychological burden" on the killers(http://www.ushmm.org/wlc/en/). They began gassing Jews. Jews were gassed in many different camps. Two of the most famous were in Poland; Auschwitz-Birkenau Majdanek, which was the largest and Chelmno. http://www.chgs.umn.edu/Educational_Resources/Curriculum/Broken_Threads/ In response to: Read and report on the Final Solution.
